This week we’re borrowing some mojo from our sister podcast, Relevantly Speaking. We felt it was relevant to Advaliant and certainly pertinent to the performance marketing industry. We spoke with Chris Henger of Google Affiliate Network right before the start of the PMA (Performance Marketing Alliance) meeting and got his thoughts on Google’s acquisition of Performics.
We shot this profile of Alla when we were in Boston for Affiliate Summit East. The thing that struck us right off the bat were how many affiliates were singing her praises. Those that work with her, love her, and those that had heard of her, wanted to work with her. That’s a pretty great testament to the personal attention to her clients.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say this was one of the best affiliate marketing discussions we’ve ever seen on camera. Revenews’s Angel Djambazov talked to Christopher Smith candidly about what he feels is wrong with the performance marketing industry and what can be done to address those issues. We also get early information about the Performance Marketing Alliance (PMA).

We’re starting off our Advaliant Podcast series with a bang - we caught up with controversial affiliate marketer, John Chow, to talk about the industry. We also asked him what kept him going in this business and what is important to him in a performance network partner.
On a technical note, we had some audio problems toward the end of the interview, rendering our last question unusable. We’ll definitely catch up with John at the next industry event and pick up where we left off.
Lots of people comment on how cool our booth is when they see it at ad:tech. Most probably don’t have any idea how much work goes into shipping it and assembling it. This video covers a five-hour process in about two minutes.
As an interesting aside, all the assembly HAS to be done by union labor. To give you an idea of how much the union runs things - we were told that we couldn’t shoot interviews with our camera on the floor. They said we were taking away work from the union. It’s amazing how a trade show about digital media and marketing can’t allow this.
